Allison Chi is a high school senior from Tower Hill in Wilmington, DE. She created this non-profit to address literacy levels in her community and instill a love for reading in the next generation of Delawareans. As a tutor at West End Neighborhood House and UrbanPromise, she helps young readers from the inner city grow through the science of reading. To her, a world where children can’t access the power of books is simply unacceptable.
At school, she serves as a literacy coach for her second-grade Book Buddy and as her grade’s Service Board representative. Outside the classroom, she is a record-holding First Team All-State cross country and track athlete and an avid clarinetist. She hopes to share her love for reading with Delaware's children!

Latoya Harris
For the past 5 1/2 years, it's been a passion of Latoya Harris to assist and provide reading intervention for students in grades preK-6. What motivated this passion? Her own child, at a very young age, struggled to retain and make progress. So she decided to take a leave from work, and focus on addressing his needs. The timeline couldn't have been any more advantageous. Six months later, the entire nation now was forced to rethink the needs of learning for all children. She and her son made the most of learning from home, specifically with ELA and Reading. They played many games while learning sound blends. They incorporated reading in everything they did, including a "cloud wall of words." The journey was long; however, the benefits are abundant! Now there is confidence for reading, where before there was none. They frequently make trips to libraries and spend time at bookstores.
